Are you expecting battery/starting trouble?

I know you can get the plug in type ones. Can't find a pic sorry. They are a rectangular twin socket thingy. We have them on our forklifts to plug the chargers in. RS will have this type.

Thanks Steve.

Neil, I want to box the battery shelf in (Dax) so i thought its worth putting them in just in case.
I can get them from the States but the last item i got was about £30, by the time i received it with tax and postage it came to about £100 so if i can't get them here i won't bother

Cheers Mark

I think you probably need to vent the battery box if you do enclose it, to allow any (potentially) explosive hydrogen to get away.

Might be worth looking at marine equipment suppliers.

I think the nearest to these is the type of quick connecting socket and plug are the connectors that are used on welding plants, they have a flange fit for the base terminal and a spigot with a bayonet twist and lock design, there are three sizes but the smallest about 12mm in dia is capable of handling up to 130amps so they should do fine, and welding parts supplier will stock them,i.e. Welding engineering supplies Barking have them, hope this helps.

went for remote jumpers - see pics on our website for the boxing in and lugs. Real squeeze to make it all fit but it is very neat and handy in the end. I made our lugs which worked fine. One other thing that we gave some thought to (can't remember why we chose against them in the end - probably because it was a lot more difficult and took far more time and effort to do it the way we did) but places like Merlin do jumping plugs so you just plug her in. Might be a neat solution.

Don't forget though that if you have an MSD system or similar it is also recommended that you will also need an isolator switch for the main feed AND the permanent feed if you want to use them as charging lugs too. Now thats when it starts to get really tight in that little space!!
