The wheel had a rim changed by Image. It was, in my opinion, a rush job (being very close to Christmas) and started leaking some months later - this was due to a failure in the silicone sealant and was a very slow leak. I inexpertly repaired it and had some minor problems which caused me to investigate further.

I have checked the runout on the wheel and it isn't significantly warped (before repair, i.e. with several broken bolts it was <0.040"). It wasn't much of an impact that caused me to have the rim changed, more of a slide along some Armco, so the structural integrity isn't a worry to me.

I am satisfied that I have assembled this wheel in a far superior way than previously and my short test drive (of about 2 miles) showed that the wheel wobble had stopped and none of the bolts came loose. Obviously, this was only a very short test, but rest assured I will be keeping a much closer eye on it than before.

Thanks for your concern, though, I can see from a 3rd party perspective why you'd want to bin the wheel, but for the moment, I'm happy keeping it. Should it fail en-route to Le Mans, feel free to point and laugh in my direction
