The steering column link

HI All.

excuse me for what may seem like an obvious question.....

I ha a Sierra Steering column, and the steering rack and bushes are in place....in my very undetailed instructions, it talks about attching a link, so that the steering column is long enough.

IS this somethign I can pick up from donor vehicles or spare parts shops?

My steering column is at least a couple of feete short...

Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks

Just been getting mine into position for the Dax, here's a pic. It has to be cut to length and a cutout made for the bolt on the UJ to slot through. I got mine from Dax I suspect Pilgrim do the same thing.

Andi.
You have far too much column protruding through the bulkhead.
You will need to make sure the top end of the column is in the correct position with a steering wheel attached. Then you should have about one inch of column sticking throught the bush that attaches to the bulkhead. If you have more then the column needs to be pushed back together more.
To get the smoothest steering operation you need the upper UJ to be as close to the bush as possible.

Ah! Dave, yes, the column is not actually in, as such just 'resting' through the hole. It has slipped through somewhat

Thanks for the comment though I'll be putting everything in the right place in the next day or so then I'll post a picture to check
