Fix hub centre steering - how does that work then?

Is the steering electronic or controlled by an offset pulley?

In effect - offset pulley - see Hub-center steering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for example.

quite an old technology now; I remember Jack Difazio in the 1970's in Somerset doing clever things with hub centre steering.

Even the great development skills of Ron Haslam and the might of Elf GP racing could not make it work well for bikes; Steve Linsdell raced a highly modified Yam GTS at the TT but it was just too heavy. Bimotas Tesi was slated by test riders as well. All in all not a great one for the history books and everyone is still racing today with telescopic forks (albeit 'upside downers').
One of Hub centre steerings greatest flaws is very poor turning circle; bad enough on a bike, probably unworkable on a four wheeler!! Add to that high unsprung weight, complicated linkages and distinct lack of rider feedback and it was a classic 'clever in theory, rubbish in practice' design.
IMHO of course....

oooh dear...dunno I only know hub centre steering from my motorcycle addiction; Citroen are well known throughout their history for 'innovative engineering' but for me the last interesting car they made was the old maserati engined 1970's SM, but all Citroens depreciated as fast as a Fiat rusted at the seaside!!

Robin, fill us in when you get to find out what Citroens hub centre steering really is!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you don`t mean "Multi-functional fixed centred controls steering wheel"? - (quoted from the Ctroen website)

No - what you are talking about is when the centre of the steering wheel stays stationary while the rim rotates - correct?

If so, I have no clue how that works - it is Fr*nch and therefore beneath contempt.

How can the French produce a bottle of wine for under a Euro that is perfectly drinkable?

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.
