Cool Auto Choke

Hi Chaps

Started the Chevy 383 up today and is running a little to fast 1500 rpm on tickover.

The holley carb (Street Avenger) has a built in auto choke but has yet, I've not attached a 12V feed. Will ataching a 12 V feed reduce the tickover to around 800rpm once the engine gets warm, or do I have to adjust the carb in some other way?

Thanks for your help

Carl.

You don't need choke, auto or otherwise. PITA IMHO.

Strip it off, and learn how to start a cold engine using the accelerator pump.

Auto or manual chokes are.....................gay.

(except on SUs)

I agree with Wilf, you dont need a choke, 3 or 4 pumps on the gas peddle and it will fire up, the advantage ( apart from the gay one) is it enables you to set up this type of carb. better, and if you remove the choke mechanism COMPLETELY, the carb. will breath better.

With an Edelbrock its possible to remove the choke part but retain the fast idle which is quite handy!

Until you connect a 12v ign feed to it the choke will be fully on! And as well as running on fast tickover it will also be running rich. Take it Off
