12v Power Outlet

Has any of you fitted a 12v outlet to your cars for powering sat nav, etc, are there any off the shelf kits available?

regards

Stuart

Go to a scrap yard and whip one out of Sierra or something similar, or you could go for the expensive version.
VW Golf Bora Cigarette Socket 12v 12 Volt Power Outlet on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Aug-08 20:00:00 BST)

I fitted a fag lighter, great when you want a smoke at 80 mph.

Buy an extension from the likes of Halfrods for a couple of quid, and cut the male end off and wire it into the loom. I hid mine under the dash out of sight. Dead easy and works a treat!

A Sierra in a scrap yard? You haven't been for a while have you Mike? They are not that easy to come by these days.

Thanks guys,

Clive, I'll try that, no time to rummage in scrapsville, but I bet there are plenty Sierras up our neck of the woods, every taxi firm in the town ran them at one time.

Fit one in the boot aswell, ideal if you are away camping and you don't want to leave your phone or anything else charging overnight in the cockpit.

Just get the VW power outlet socket. Same as a fag lighter but has a cover. Loads about as they are fitted to most VW. Golf, Beetle, Polo, Bora etc. Many are found in the boot but the covers get damaged here. Beetles also have one by the handbrake.

Shouldn't think they are that expensive from your local VW dealer.
