Adjustable shock absorbers

can anyone please advise how to adjust the shock absorbers, I have spax coil overs and the ride is very bumpy at 65mph.
The wheels have been balanced and the shocks are the only item I have not touched apart from adjusting the ride height.

Spax have a small grub screw in the bottom section below the thread which if mounted correctly should be facing inwards.
This has a slot in it for a standard screwdriver, you can soften the ride by turning the screws, cant remember which way, but they are notched, so you know when you have moved it. ( I think anti clockwise softens it)
Best point to start is to rotate each one fully one way, turn it the other way until you hit the end, counting the number of 'notches' on the way. Then reset it to the middle point.
Do this for each one ( 4 on the Jag suspension) then give it a road test, then by adjusting all 4 one notch at a time you should find the optimium setup for your preference etc.

It is a bit trial and error though, and if you get it too soft you may have to adjust the ride height again to stop any tyre rubbing.

Thanks Andy, but my first question would be can the grub screw be unscrewed? is there a stop inside to prevent this happening or has it a limit?

Hi Stu. Yes there is a stop. They will only turn 12 or 15 clicks. Fully anticlockwise is soft. Try 4-5 clicks up from there

If it lost fluid, then the seal must be knackered, and so is the shock absorber.

Probably a silly question but how do you adjust the ride height with Spax shockers or is it only ride softness/hardness that is adjustable

To adjust the ride height there are 2 locking rings around the bottom of the shock, slacken off the bottom ring first and adjust to the height required. don't forget to lock the rings back up.
