Bedding in.

How do people get to bed things in before SVA? I was thinking of an MoT or two!

Any Private roads around Kent?

Andi.

Yes - any without the presence of Dibble

Seriously though, book yourself an MoT and make sure it isn't next door to you. Ensure they have your name and the make/chassis number of the car.

As far as I am aware there is no distance limit for an MOT booking. As my namesake said, make sure you have all the details covered, including Insurance - then it is perfectly legal.

I got "lost" on the way home from my MOT...

My car had no miles on it at all when I trailered it to the SVA.

Still passed OK though. Brakes do feel better now they have been used a bit but as long as all the brakes are equally bad they should still pass.

Maybe I just got lucky.

Craig.

Interestingly our examiner said that very very few of our cars failed on brakes because they are meant for much heavier vehicles (i.e. the donor) and are therefore very effective relative to the low stopping power requirements for the SVA. Don't know if its true but no reason for him to say it.

We booked an MOT and got 'lost' as well though - I found it reassuring to have spent a little bit of time in the car before the SVA.

You can calibrate the speedo on axle stands.

Don't drive too far to the MOT, you have only just finished the thing and you need to be sure everything is correct.
An MOT will bed in most brake setups, especially needed on non-servo brakes. Servo'ed Dax brakes should be ok for the brake test right out of the box.
