| noises that disappear when the clutch is pressed can often be the release bearing. I'd try adjusting up the release arm

| Check the amount of play and if there is any of the release bearing on its collar which is the tube like structure bolted to the bellhousing and in which the gearbox primary drive shaft rotates. Many years ago I diagnosed this type of fault on a thousand or so new Triumphs it can make a hell of a row. I wish I was nearer then I would be happy to listen, may I suggest its worth a try "mobile phone the noise to me. A test of this condition is to gradually put foot pressure on the clutch peddle if it stops as the release bearing tightens against the clutch diaphram then maybe the wrong interference fit of the release bearing on its tube. Does this help. |

| I watched your video - tickover was very low - could be gearbox chatter due to low tickover. Push that up a bit and see what happens to the noise. Zero cost so what have you to lose?

| I'll have a go at uping the idle, problem is dax are being very, very, very slow in sending out the rest of my guages! i think theres a gadget at work for measuring rpm. also going to nick the boroscope kit from work, so i can look at the bearing without pulling it all apart! Cheers guys
