I know it's not the answer you'll looking for but maybe look into renting a garage. Keeping a roofless car outside will be a pain.

And covering it will cause micro blisters in the paint

The car will be covered in my drive, I am looking to buy a type of portable lift over temp garage like a tent. The misses wont be happy but then my cobra will be my new love. Its seems as though fitting secret switches to cut out the fuel pump seems a favourite with most of you.

IMHO a removable steering wheel is the best sort of security. Any Ar5e who is thinking of steeling it for a drive will know he can’t drive it without a steering wheel. No it will not stop someone who really wants to steel it but then again neither will any sort of alarm.

As for a cover the best sort really would be to go to AK and have a hard top fitted, very expensive but it won’t blister your paint.

I feel that the most practicle way is to fit a battery isolation switch of the type race cars have, ( see europa etc.) I fitted mine so that I can switch it off from my seat with the belt on, this is beacause I had a short, and the car nearly caught fire before I could isolate the battery.
Frank Dowsett. BLOKE.
PS when leaving the car parked, I take the "key" with me.

Install an alarm system - you may want to check with your Insurance as a Thatcham approved alarm can reduce your premiums. Most modern soft top cars have motion sensor style alarm/immobiliser installed.
Cheapest way to go is to fit the isolator switch - however this usually only breaks the battery line to the fuse box - so a thief could over ride that quite easily if its in an obvious position. What I would suggest is an additional ignition cut out to supplement the isolator.
A hidden toggle switch under the dash or under the bonnet in the ignition power supply line from the key ignition switch which is open circuit to cut off the engine. It will permit the engine to turn over but not fire up.
A thief would then have to figure out what to do to get power by over riding the battery isolator, hot wire the car key ignition switch, and then find it still won't fire up.

I've got a fuel pump cut off hidden somewhere odd in my car. With out the pump running the engine will start and run for about 10-20 seconds. The advantage of this is you will be awoken by the noise of the engine and have just long enough to get up, get something heavy and blunt from the cupboard under the stairs and out into the road, at which point you can legally batter them. (its an ancient law, you are legally allowed to batter someone if they are messing with your pride and joy that you spent years and ££££'s building). Not sure a beeping alarm would add much if the engine was running
