Clutch slave bracket

Hi Guys,

Do I need to incorporate a return spring into the slave cylinder bracket to pull the clutch fork back off the clutch plate when the pedal pressure is released?

I can see that the springs in the clutch will force it back until the clutch is fully engaged but that would still leave the thrust bearing just running on the clutch fingers. Do I need a return spring in parallel with the slave cylinder just to get it a couple of millimeter's away?? Or is it meant to stay in contact???

Personally I would say no, a hydraulic clutch to a degree self adjusts. If you attach a spring which is in any way too strong, and it would have to be reasonably strong to achieve what you are after, it could pull it back too far so that the next operation of the clutch will no longer be enough to disengage the clutch fully. You never used to see tin tops with this setup.
