Question Charging problem.

I could do with some advice of an electical nature.. On my newly built SRV8 I have only managed 63 miles before the snags came thick and fast, the only one I cant solve is the alternator wont charge. With the engine turned off I have 12.7 volts across the battery, on starting the ignition light glows and wont extinguish along with the battery showing 12.2 volts using a multimeter and the car's voltmeter. Revving the engine makes no difference and the alternator was repaired last week (I also witnessed the test at 14 volts @ 2500 RPM). The battery appears to be in good nick and all connections tight with a tight belt. The other problem, possibly related is the fuse for permanent live feeds is blowing.
Any help apprecitated or at least a hand to push it into the sea as I am bamboozled.
Cheers, Dave.

Where's this fuse that blows located?

Is it between the alternator and the battery?

Craig.

It's the brown wire from the battery that feeds the purple wires (permanent live) after the fuse

So everything in the vehicle runs through this one fuse? What rating is it?

Craig.

No mate, It feeds the hazard lights and sidelight relay. It's rated 10 amps. The loom is a 'rapidfit' version from SVC, all was fine till the other week!

Ahhh, I see now.

In that case I would say the alternator has given up again but strange why it should happen so soon after repair.
Can you remove it and just get it tested again?

Craig.

I assume the battery is starting the car OK or does it need constant charging?

Just wondering if the battery may be knackered but they usually try to charge.

Craig.

It starts on the button, it seems the bamboozling is spreading! The battery is only a few months old, it has to be something simple but what I have no idea as yet.
