Grease guns

Why do my grease guns always drip and run everywhere. I bought a cheapy from one of the Kit Car Show traders and that ran everywhere. So I invested in a large Draper with a handle pump and that also p**@!s out all over the place.

My lever pump oil can also does the same!!!!

Mine does it too. I now keep it stored in a bucket!

Mine takes the grease cartridges and they don't leak until they are in the grease gun. I think the spring pressure from the plunger compresses the grease and squeezes out the oil. The grease always seems to get thicker the older it gets.

Maybe releasing the spring pressure after use would stop it?

Craig.

Mine doesn't leak.

Doesn't do much in the way of greasing things either, but it doesn't leak.

Thats strange, my grease gun works fine when i use it on my A K powered by a 351 Chevy. It could be the Ford syndrome..

mine did exactly the same with my first cartridge, all the oil came out of the grease. So with the second cartridge I now pull the plunger back to the locking notch after each use. No more leaks.

What's all his gay nonsense about "cartridges"?

Buy a good old-fashioned fill-it-up-from-the-tub gun, only manly way to do it.

I have a "Wanner" Grease Gun I bought about 40 years ago and cost the best part of a weeks wages at the time. Never had a problem with it at all....
Draper?? No such thing as cheap tools.
