89 XJ40 Manual GBox, How Do i get it out???

Hi All,
Just finishing up the removals from my 89 XJ40 3.6 manual, but hit a bit of a snag! Disconnected the Slave cylinder, Prop is out, Removed the rear spring mount, removed all the bell housing bolts but the gear box is still very attached to the engine. Ive lowered the engine/box right down till the engine mounts reach max travel, kicked, jack the rear of the box to pivot it around its joint, mallet-ed the box but its still it doesn't want to come out. Is it just the gasket holding it on or have i missed something major as my Haynes refuses to acknowledge a manual.

Cheers All

sounds like you've missed a bolt somewhere to me - but I'm no expert so I'm sure someone will be along soon.

If you go on evil bay you'll find copies of the entire workshop manual on DVD's. Complete rip off for what they are but a very good way of getting a manual for the car. Alternatively have a look on the internet - its amazing what you can find on the later pages of any google search - found an entire workshop manual for a 1957 Fordson tractor the other day!

Cheers Lloyd,
Just came home at lunch and it has arrived, top man. I knew it was coming but just thought I'd ask in case it just needed a good belt. I'm off to read.
