vin plate?

Is it mandatory for a vin plate to be attached to the car for the SVA if I already have the chassis number stamped into the chassis in an easily readable position?

Can't find a reference to this anywhere - only a mention of it in the Pilgrim build manual.

I have SVA on Monday and no plate fitted.

John

Stamped in the chassis is the best way. Some cars have failed with just a riveted on plate.

The Dax chassis is stamped but not in an easy to see place so the Vin plate can just be placed somewhere easier to read.

Craig.

My SVA tester said it was good to have both. Not sure what the actual requirements are, as each tester seems to have his/her own take on things.

Good question!
I don't see any mention of it in my SVA Manual, but for the sake of a couple of quid, and a chance of not passing SVA I'd put one on!

Actually I'm going to change my mind!

The one I knew off passed the SVA fine with no stamped chassis number but it didn't pass the DVLA inspection afterward.

It was the DVLA inspector who requested a stamped chassis or a stamped steel plate, welded to the chassis.

Craig.

I agree with Craig, you do need it for DVLA.
