Jag donor

Just bought myself a Jag donor, Wasn`t going to go this route, but it was a good deal, gives me slave wheels etc;. Other than the suspention, prop shaft, log book, what else will come in handy from the car before i have it scraped? Dont want the instruments, but is the electric fuel pump any use for the Rover V8?.

RE: Jag donor

Worth keeping the VIN plate, helps when your friendly VRO man comes around to help persuade him that you can have an age-related plate.

Get your V5 updated with new engine details asap - cc's, and new engine number.
You can tell the VRO man that you actually installed that engine/box in the donor (just because you wanted to hear it run of course) - then the engine will count toward the "original parts of donor used" - again it helps get an age related plate.
Any serial number tags on diff etc also useful.

RE: Jag donor

If both engines are fuel injected the fuel pump should be the same. If the rover is a carb model the pump is different. I strongly suggest that you rip out the wiring loom, even if you buy a ready made loom there is aways the need for a few feet of odd wire for wiring in that non standard gizmo and the different colour codes makes it easy to trace any new wires you use.

good luck
Kev
