Jag Space Saver Wheel as a spare

Hi,

I am just about to buy a Jag Space Saver wheel from a scrappy he says they are off XJ6 & XJ8's but they are all the same. Does anyone know if they are OK for my car. I have a GD427 Jag with 15" Image wheels.

Cheers

Alastair

RE: Jag Space Saver Wheel as a spare

I am pleased to be able to confirm that "older" Jags wheels do have the same P.C.D. as the later XK and XJs. I was having the same thoughts about a space saver, because if you use one of instant roadside repair aerosol cans it makes a right old mess of the inside of the wheel and tyre.
It may look daft but it will get you home or to the tyre depot.

And what are you going to do with the one you take off? It won't fit in the boot, put it on the front seat maybe? and go back for girlfriend/wife/mate later?

Just a thought.

RE: Jag Space Saver Wheel as a spare

Just a small point,

I read recently that it is illegal to have a single spare when the car is fitted with two different sizes of tyre, unless you carry one for each! not illegal to have none though!.

Hmmm,

Not actually sure I said the spare wheel would be in the car when it went through an MOT :7

Cheers

It'll also keep mr AA happy as apparently they don't have to come and help you out with punctures if you don't have a legal spare.
Russel, I would then use the roadside relay feature to get the AA man to relay the misses back (winch her onto the back of the truck and strap her down!!) so the wheel and remains of tyre would fit in the car
