RE: 390 Engine Mounting The 390/427/428 are all FE engines, and should mount the same. The 385/429/460 is the newer Ford big-block.

RE: 390 Engine Mounting I can tell you that there are different mounts available for the 390 (or 427 etc) as I have discovered when buying them new in the US and comparing them to a set taken from a US Ford wreck in the UK along with a 390 engine On the set I bought in the US you can get a shift of 1/2 inch for or aft depending on which way up you mount them. I could see that DAX would want to make sure that the chassis was made up properly for the mounts they use but am surprised they don't have the drawings from previous projects or perhaps they haven't done a 390 before. Always nice to see a 390/427 properly filling the engine bay in a car rather than a small block looking lost!

RE: 390 Engine Mounting Simon,i've just read your query re engine mounts, I am at the rolling chassis stage with my dax, I ordered the chassis bracketed for my 1971 429 big block engine(385).Dax had no problem with the order and I was not asked to provide the block for mount fitting,They are now a bit vague on the spec they used for my mounts, I have some original mounts from the Thunderbird I stripped and Real Steel say they can order some from the USA with the part no's I supply.I am hoping with the mounts Dax have fitted there shouldn't be a major drama, although I envisage some chopping and changing going on, please contact me if you want to chat about the mounts. dave keane 01202 698880 Poole
