Seat Heaters

Look! it's not me but she says she's going to be cold when we finally go cruising so does anyone know of a source of seat heaters or of a suitable donor car where the elements are a "removable" item.

Keith

RE: Seat Heaters

Occasional break and use your hands, its more fun. Alternatively hot water bottle in the thermals. Seriously if you are running a 350 or more you get a fair bit of heat through the tunnel and bulkhead. I'm not convinced a seat heater will compensate for the British weather. To get full effect you need thin clothes which is definately not the way to go in a Cobra.

RE: Seat Heaters

I have a thermal undersuit which I have used when ice diving, and have been tempted once or twice to use it when out in my GD, but the battery packs would look a bit stupid.

They are OK under a drysuit, but I would look like batman with a utility belt if I used them elsewhere.

Best regards

Robert

My Son had a toy steering wheel which he used to spin furiously, making loads of go-faster noises, leaning into all the tight corners, perhaps running the government feels a bit like that. You make all the noises, but when you stop you haven't really gone anywhere.

RE: Seat Heaters

Cheapest place to get seat heaters is probably Volvo 340 of around 89-90 vintage. Plenty around in breakers.

You won't need them though. It's not your backside that gets cold!! Why do you think Cobra drivers wear stupid hats, not for fashion reasons I'm sure.

I would think that once you've been out in weather cold enough to justify seat heaters you're not likely to do it again too often.

How many Cobras have you seen out and about in the last couple of months???

RE: Seat Heaters

Keith, Am I glad you started this string!!!!

The wife's SLK 230 has got the afore mentioned heated seats and they are just the best.

I'll be looking to include in next years winter mod programme.

Regards Clive

have a look for you tomorrow.

Now here's a thought how can i adapt it to give a 50.000 volt shock to a potential thef.

RE: Seat Heaters

O yes i forgot, one advantage with side pipes, you can keep your right hand
warm by placing it on the pipe, (not to be tried going around roundabouts.:P

RE: Seat Heaters

Yep! that's a good source.......also the 440 around the same vintage. The heaters are in two parts, backside & lumbar, and are connected in series under tha seat so get the little harness that's under the seat for all the mating plugs and sockets, a bugger to get out.

Don't tell the man who issues the VAT receipts at the breakers yard that it's the heaters you are after 'cos they don't like you ripping up the seats.

Be inventive

Keith
