| RE: Remote Oil Filter Steve, I think the oil filters have a non return valve, could be you're trying to push the oil the wrong way round. Try reversing the pipes, wip out the plugs and give it a crank, if it shows pressure, you are a winner. Choose the cigar or coconut Cheers David |

| RE: Remote Oil Filter HI, I think Dave is right, I would have connected it differently, out from the adapter plate to the in on the filter housing, out from the housing to back in on the adapter plate, Cant recommend a cigar, but a nice bottle of wine to celebrate! :7 NuttyNorm |

| RE: Remote Oil Filter Think everyone is being right here!! There are three main types of filter adaptor things that fit Rovers. Oil pump cover type (replaces existing cover and filter mount), sandwich type (mounts between existing oil pump cover/filter mounting and filter, normally used for cooler connection) and 'spin-on' type (screws on in place of normal filter). Don't know which one you have but, all should be plumbed 'out to in'as Norman says. Don't think filters usually have a 'one way' valve as such' but the out to in thing is so that you feed into the centre part of the filter. Rovers are notorious for drain back and if you've had the filer off and drained the sump for more than an hour or two, or even less on worn engines, then the pick-up pipe will certainly drain back. You'll be very lucky to re-prime it on the starter alone. The only ting to do is to use a priming tool in place of the distributor (make one out of a scrap distributor) or be brave and start engine and rev it! Alternatively ou could try 'back filling the pipes to the remote by disconnecting them and holding them up high and stuffing a funnel in the end. Have fun!! |

| RE: Remote Oil Filter Thanks Lads Swapped pipes over and cranked engine and got 25 pounds pressure.Refitted plugs engine fired up and pressure came straight up to 25 but stayed there even when revved hard.Pressure used to go up to 80 when cold.My remote is spin off type that screws on instead of filter.I've seen in Merlin a remote that replaces the oil pump cover and claims no pressure drop.Anyone used one and is it worth the price? Regards Steve G.
