| AK Cobra midway build. stan c .TEl 023 80472220 As a recent member I would be grateful for advice from fellow members on some items on my AK Cobra. I aquired the car in its half built form and now wish to press on with job. The car has Ford 302 engine, bellhousing supplied by AK and Getrag gearbox. I am having trouble sourcing the bracket to mount the clutch slave cylinder onto engine/bellhousing,it seems this would not be a problem if it were a Chevy. I would like to fit a quality throttle pedal assembly instead of scrapyard unit ?. I was hoping to fit a steering column with "tilt" plus "slide" and with a presentable housing mounted through the dashboard for the indicator and light stalks, (at present there is a bare Rover column fitted),any ideas ?. What size and offset wheels are suitable for AK's, 8" fronts, 10" rears ??, I might possibly purchase Revolution wheels.I want to fill those wheelarches. You can E mail me,post areply on club site or telephone me with advice. I will be away from evening 23/2/02 till 5/3/02 but will reply before or after these dates. REGARDS.- STAN C. | RE: AK Cobra midway build. I suggest that you try a steering column before you go ahead with your ideas. I'm (just)6foot and I've had to modify the bracket , body tub and dash to mount the steering wheel as high as possible in order to get a comfortable position. the steering column is adjustable up and down from the seat, and adjustable in and out with a spanner. This is obviously a personal thing and worth spending some time with. I fitted a leather cover over the standard rover column switch binnacle and I think it looks fine. I would go with the wheels that Ken recommends, they do fill the wheel arches. I used the throttle pedal from the rover and modified it, again no problem it works fine. Can't advise on engine/box sorry! As another poster said, give Ken a call if he can't answer your question no-one can! Kev |
