Upper Wishbone

I have found that my upper front wisbome is of the older type A beam that has the front beam longer to push the ball joint back. Does anybody know if this provides the castor wiyhout shims being needed as opposed to the equal armed later component. If so how much caster is it supposed to provide. I have followed the Dax guidance with 3 shims to the front but I am now wondering if it is doubling the caster angle. Any help would be appreciated. Also am I better going for the later arms I.e. any advantage.
Mike.

RE: Upper Wishbone

Hi Mikey.
This depends on which lower arms you have.

1.If the lower arms are angled forward (late type)then you need to put the 3 shims in the back of the top wishbone.

2.if the lower wishbones are straight (early type)you need the shims in the front.

3.If the wishbones are angled backwards the're on the wrong sides of the car, take the lowers off and swap sides and then follow step 1.
