| RE: TYRES Mark I have S02s fitted to my GD, and they have been on there for 2000 miles, with quite a lot of hard driving. They are standing up to the abuse very well, and stick extremely well, however they do have to be a bit warm before they start to work properly, but it doesn't take long for them to get warm. | RE: TYRES Just got two 235x45x17 SO2's for £282 including VAT from Alba Tyres. The SO2 is now getting difficult to sourse as opposed to the newer SO3. Apparently(see earlier posts) SO2 better than SO3 in dry. Apparently part of the reason they revised the tyre was road noise but hey, who gives a ---- in a cobra. I have AVS on the front at present that are going to be replaced by the Bridgestones. I dont know about their comparison through experience with the SO2's yet but they are close to the performance of the Toyos that I have on the back. The only thing I can say is that they seem to give in that little bit sooner than the Toyo so I suppose the Toyo has better dry weather traction albeit not by a great deal. If you believe the test results on tyres, apparently the SO2 and SO3 give significantly higher grip than their nearest rival in the dry. They are pretty good in the wet too. I think Yokohama were somewhere in the middle of the field for grip. With regards wear, you can almost see the AVS tread go down, but I dont expect any difference from the Brigestones. If you want grip you can not expect durability. It is worth visiting www.tyrerack.com for more results but dont get too tyred of reading. Mike. |
