RE: Rover Cylinder heads

my Vittesse heads are marked erc0216, but this is probably a generic casting number for all SD1 heads, don't know for sure. Vittesse heads have a small cutout in the inlet port, for the injector, they also have waisted valve stems.

What are you trying to do?

Good sites for Rovers are in order of my preference,
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Show/2505/
http://www.rover-v8.co.uk/index1.htm
http://www.ajmac.co.uk/
http://members.tripod.com/~RoverSD_1/index.html
http://www.stunnedbuffalo.demon.co.uk/cars.html
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/
http://www.rpiv8.com/homepage.htm

Ajmac has lots of info on interchangeability of parts, first site has a great report on rebuiding a rover engine. I can recommend the David Hardcastle book for good background reading, but it's not a reference book IMHO.

regards
Kev

RE: Rover Cylinder heads

hi ya Kev,
Im just trying to find out whether I have vitesse heads or not.
I have no spring compresor or anything to check the valves so I was hoping for a result from the casting numbers..

cheers for the sites though

RE: Rover Cylinder heads

If you've got the heads off then the cutout for the injector is on the inlet to the inlet valve, i.e on the face that the manifold butts up to. The cutout is a semi circle about 5mm high on the top right of the port. If it's there you've got vitesse heads. if not then they're standard heads.

Kev
I'll have to get a digital camera one fo these days.

Go to http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/S...05/engine.html about halfway down the page is a shot of the inlet ports showing the injector cutouts
