Early Dax Mastercylinder

I have an early Dax registered '88, fitted with a pedal box with the clutch master cylinder bolted to the front of the footwell not the top.
The brake master cylinder/servo unit is past saving and needs to be replaced. Anyone any idea what was originally recomended by Dax?

RE: Early Dax Mastercylinder

Sorry to state the obvious David but I would suggest you ask the boy's and girls at Dax, they are always very helpful, I'm sure someone there will remember what they used to fit nearly 15 years ago.

Dax phone no. 01279442661

RE: Early Dax Mastercylinder

Dave is the servo mounted on the front crossmember.
at this time dax used a remote servo in this position.
If not it may be that the orignal builders own spec.
Do you now the age of your chassis, As it may be alot earlier than the
registered date.
Have you tryed speaking to peter walker at dax, If you have your chassis number
handy he will be able to date it and answer your questions.
all the best
Paul.

RE: Early Dax Mastercylinder

If its mounted on the opposite side of the footwell and bolts through to the pedal frame its from the VW Golf Automatic combined servo/master cylinder. However the Ford Escort master cylinder will fit to the Golf servo and dosent have the sponginess of the Golf.

Make sure you get the Automatic version though.

Just check because I bet you can fit the Escort Servo if you use the same master.
Mike.
