Hi Mark
If you are looking for more ground clearance, go for a Range Rover one complete with oil pickup tube. It's about 10mm shallower than the standard SD1 sump.
Cheers
Paul
I need a new sump for my RV8 motor(Don't ask!!!)
Will SD1 one fit? are they all the same?
Thanks M

An SD1 sump will fit but they are a bit hard to find now whereas Range Rover ones are easy to find and as Paul said they are slightly higher. They do hold more oil though so oil change prices will increase slightly.
Is the sump completely beyond help, Can it be welded or brazed again?
Craig.
Dax Tojeiro, + 355 Chevy + Tremec box = In storage and possibly for sale, make an offer...
DB Hardtop still in the garage.
Polishes to date = On hold.
Yes I can mend the sump, but don't want to be without car so I thought buy another one because it's easy to change, and then repair old one at my leisure.
Also with the new one I can add a sump guard. Where I live those Council plonkers have installed sleeping policeman every 50m, I called highways because I am sure they are too high, guess what? They don't want to know.

Can anyone tell me if the sump is made from Alloy or steel? Can it be MIG welded?
I have not got a magnet to check plus I am at work so couldnt check anyway.
Depending on answer is what I do next.
