Mountings for Clova Fans Are there any alternatives to using quickfix mountings for attaching clova fans to the radiator? My rad has just sprung leaks because the mountings were not quite tight enough leading to damage of one/more of the cores. I am taking the rad in for repair but would like to avoid this happening in the future. I know I could increase the amount of foam between the tie ends and the radiator but would be interested to how other people have avoided rad damage. Also - could someone give me the definitive answer to the question - should you use Barrs fluid or similar products to seal rad leaks? Some people seem to think it is safe others are totally against it. The radiator guy was very much agaist it saying that once it has been used in a rad, there is very little chance of fixing the rad properly. Thanks in advance for your help. Andy

RE: Mountings for Clova Fans I had exactly the same problem when I built my DAx I havent made the same mistake with my GD I use small plastic pipe that fits through the rad the pipe I had was from the beer pumps that they pump through from the cellar just the right stuff I can send you some if you like , then I used gutter bolts through and put a rubber grommet each side works a treat and wont cause a leak. Regards Steve T

RE: Mountings for Clova Fans Hi there I didn't like the idea of poking things through my rad so I made top and bottom mountings to fix the fans to,it was fairly easy to do on my Dax but I'm not familiar with the GD so I cannot advise how you could do it cheers Paul

| RE: Mountings for Clova Fans I have similar to Paul, Bracket/frame arrangement using some existing bolt hole arrangement top and bottom, twin fans look production, rad is freight rover 3 core. All seems to work. Graham

RE: Mountings for Clova Fans I also did not like the idear off pokeing hole in the rad, Ive made a cowl which the the fans mount on, and the fans extract the air through the hole area of the rad not just the radius of the fans. Regards Paul :7

RE: Mountings for Clova Fans Thanks everyone for the feedback - radiator has now been fixed and will be modified so that the cooling fans can be mounted on brackets. Hopefully Barrs Fluid will be a thing of the past! Cheers Andy
