| RE: Come on you Damn thing!!!!!! Once you've got the circlips out, thoroughly clean and remove any marks or ridges on the inner edge of the hole where the bearing cups have to come out. They are a very tight fit and the bore needs to be clean to allow the cups to come out. Two ways to try, first heat heat and then more heat, i'm told this works but it didn't for me :'( I had to use a drift and a hammer to hit on the bearing cup to drive it further into the UJ, at its limit the opposite bearing cup is proud and allows you to get a purchase with a vice and work it out carefully. You then knock the whole thing back through as far as you can again and this time the other bearing cap is then proud. repeat for the other two and the the yoke will withdraw. DO NOT hit the housing of the bearing cup with anything, or mark the inside of this area, as even a small knick will cause the cup to jam and then it's a first class b****rd, instead of just a strightforward second class b***rd of a job x( x( When you reassemble (confidence hey) put loads of grease into the bearing cap to keep the needle rollers in place, and make sure the bearing caps go in straight and parallel, otherwise you can run into problems again. good luck Kev |

| RE: Come on you Damn thing!!!!!! I used a vey large workbench vice ( it must have been at least 50 years old and weighed more than the jag diff) and a couple of sockets...one to push the bearing cups out and a larger one to act as a spacer for the bearing cup on the opposite end of the joint to push into, out of the yoke. You need three arms and hands but once you perfect the method it only takes 5 to ten minutes each bearing.... Replacement uses the same method in reverse. DO NOT drop the driveshaft on your foot however as this really hurts !! Cheers, Tony:7

| RE: Come on you Damn thing!!!!!! OOps forgot to mention no need for heat, and read 5 to ten minutes for each UJ , not individual bearing. The first is the worst after that its easy !! Cheers, Tony :7
