| RE: water temp sender Simon Put a power source to the sender and a guage, and stick it in a pan with a cooking thermometer. If memeory serves me correctly, if you don't put a voltage stabiliser on it, it will read slightly off. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: water temp sender Robert agree with the practice discribed. but does it not depend on what type of gauge you have as to whether you need a voltage stabiliser? if you have a smiths gauge you probably would ? Steve:7 |

| RE: water temp sender Simon Basically your temp sender is a resistor that changes resistance with heat. As it gets warmer its resistance decreases. So when its at room temperature it should read around 1000 - 5000 ohms, depending on what sort it is. When you plonk it into boiling water it should read around 100 - 500 ohms. As long as it decreases with heat, its unlikely to be faulty. Phil
