Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

I've just got through the SVA and registered. I've had an MOT and all was OK on both tests. I'm sure I could find the readouts from the SVA test if I needed to but I've got a slight pull to the right under braking.

I had much more brake dust on my right hand wheel when I cleaned them last night too. It's only a touch and the brakes are all new.

Should I just live with it for a bit and see what happens?

Like I say it's not much.

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

Could just be the calipers and pads starting to bed in, but it would be a good idea to re-bleed the brakes as some air bubbles might have formed. I would be tempted to leave it for now other than the bleed.

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

Try pushing harder on the left hand side of the brake pedal to compensate!:7

Sorry couldn't help it.

I wonder if something in the suspension may have settled throwing your geometry out slightly, now you've done a few miles?

Just a thought

PS I've sent you home e-mail to try that file again.

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

Thanks Rob. Yeah, I'll do that. I used an easy bleed and all was OK. I'll do a little press on it son..... tomorrow.

Ronnie.... your maaaaaddddddd.... it's a manual. There's no way that the brake pedal can distinguish weather I'm putting pressure on the right or the left side of it.

Now my mother in law has got an automatic fiesta. If I was to remove that big pedal from her car... that may make the difference. Thanks for the tip.

With a big pedal. Pressing on the left or the right might just make the subtle difference required.

Wow. Such top blokes in here or what.

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

Vince - wot Rob said, bleed 'em to make sure, check tyre pressures, maybe swap front tyres over, but they might just take a few more miles to bed in yet.

After that, if it's still doing it, look to the geometry, after double checking ride height - those springs will settle in the first few hundred miles.

"maybe swap front tyres over"

But not if they're directional like those ZZ1 's you and me run Wilf, else they'll end up going backwards.

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

Vince.
If the "Easi-bleed" gadget you used was one of those that connects to your tyre then i would be tempted to bleed them up by the traditional method.......Your missus on the pedal and you under the wheel arch. As i have never had a perfect result from using one of those things.

P.S. Does anyone want to buy one for a fiver?....... (d'ya get my drift)

RE: Slight Pull to Right on Brakes

I'll second Daves comment on Easi-Bleed, they are hopeless, I did exactly what you recommended, got the missus on the pedal but she miss-interpreted the pump hold, pump hold, up down, up down, hold, never known it to take 2 hours to bleed at set of brakes.
