| Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) Hello All Had my first non-start today. I went to go out at lunch time and the car started and then died. It sounded like it had run out of petrol and my fuel gauge is not set up correctly yet so I put more fuel in and still nothing. After a quick investigation I discovered that no fuel was getting into the float bowls because the jets were stuck in the closed position. Esay enough to fix but I do not know what would have caused that to happen. Any ideas on what I should look at to stop it happening again. The fuel pressure is at about 5-5.5psi is this to high ? Any tips greatly appreciated. Cheers Dave |

| RE: Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) Fuel pressure is OK, what sixe fuel filter are you running, and where in the system is it? Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) Hi Rob The filter is at the rear before the pump. I am not sure of the size without checking it. ( it was supplied by DAX). Could this be the cause ? Cheers Dave |

| RE: Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) I have as a rule put the filter as close to the carb as possible. Otherwise, there is the possiblility of picking up stuff along the line. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif

| RE: Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) Rob That makes sense but I thought that you have to have a filter between the pump and the tank (electric pump)?? Also that the pump has to be as near to the tank as possible ? If I change the pump to a mechanical one will I still need a filter before the pump or just between the pump and the carb ? Cheers dave |

| RE: Blocked Carb !! (edelbrock) In an EFI/electric pump configuration, you have a small online filter at the pump and a second larger non-restrictive pump just before the carb. With a mechanical system, you just have the filter before the mechanical pump. I have a very large Moroso canister type fuel filter, the one you can unscrew and just clean out and touch wood, have had no problems. Have a look at some of my chassis shots for the routing etc of the fuel lines, there is a large orange topped filter between the tank and the mechanical pump. http://www.cobraclub.com/galleries/album01 HTH Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif
