Chevy rocker covers - breathers

I currently have factory rocker covers on my Chevy 350 ZZ4. On one side there is a breather connected to the carb, and a filler hole, and on the other side there is a breather with a foam element and a second filler hole (i.e. four holes in the rocker covers in total).

I plan to ft some of the "Cobra Le Mans" rocker covers that I have (John Hammond advertises them in ST from time to time) but they only have one hole on each side.

Question: I assume that on one side I need to replace the breather connected to the carb. On the other side, do I need to fit another breather (with foam element) and that I would then need to remove when I top up the oil, or can I just fit a filler cap without a breather mechanism.

I guess my basic question is do I need a breather mechanism both sides or will one suffice?

Thanks

RE: Chevy rocker covers - breathers

Nigel,
I think you about summed it up. You certainly need to retain the breather to the carb as this provides the flow for crankcase ventilation. As you say a breather on the other bank.
My 383 is set up the same way I have to fill / top up the oil by removing the breather.

Nigel
We've had this 'blow one suck one' discussion before & I think a search under PCV will find it for you, but in a nutshell your right; one rockercover is connected to the carb the other open to air via a filter

Cheers
