Side Screens and FOAM

Hi all,
Side screens supports on my old Dax Cobra have broken the inner layer of the door.
At that time ('86) the side screens from Dax where fitted to the inner layer by threaded knob with a T member welded to the screen.
The forces and moments where past to the polyester inner layer resulting in a rupture through the all length of the door.
I WANT TO CHANGE THIS.
So my question is:
Do someone experiences some paint cracks at the side screens guides?
How you install the guides? Just drilled? Of have you reinforced internally?

I consider reinforcing with PUR foam (Construction polyurethane foam)
Are there some experiences with foam?

Thanks in advance.
The Netherlands

RE: Side Screens and FOAM

I drilled the doors so the guides fitted in tight, I flatened the end of a piece of copper brake pipe, I then mixed enough body filler to fill the hole from the inside by putting the filler in with the brake pipe and lifting so it would fill the inner surface and then gradually build it up so it is thick, you need to add plenty of hardener to the filler so it will go off quickly, then gently push the guide into the hole and the filler will squeeze up the guide, let it harden for about 1/2 hour and then you can drill out the filler that is in the guide. The finished job is very strong.

Make sure you mask round the hole so body filler does'nt get on the paitwork.

Hope you can understand the explanation.
