    URGENT!! Jaguar V12 Timing

Please help,a freind of mine has a dax with a jaguar v12 in it. The ignition developed a problem where by it wouldnt go above around 2500 rpm. Ive replaced the 30year old ignition system with a lumeition system. But now it coughs and pops out of the carbs. Im guessing the timing is out after fitting the new system, but Im also a little concerned incase I'v swapped a plug lead over by accident. Does anyone know the firing order for these? Also does anyone know the static timing for them as well? Please help, the cars in my drive and I would like to get it done asap.

    thanks in advance

    RE: URGENT!! Jaguar V12 Timing

    Phil,

According to the Haynes manual, the timing for a V12 is
10 degrees BTDC static or up to 750rpm.
    Firing order is 1a 6b 5a 2b 3a 4b 6a 1b 2a 5b 4a 3b (anticlockwise)
    a is LH bank
    b is RH bank

    Hi Simon,

Graham D tells me that you recently had your V12 (with webbers???) set up on a rolling road somewhere in Basildon??

Who did you use and were they any good??

Hope to see you at our next meet in October (if it's not too far for you to come!! :7 :7 )

    Gumball,

Yep very good place called Swallow engineering, They specialise in Jags though, not sure if their rolling road will handle big amounts of power. I wasn't after a power figure as the car is a standard set up.
I think I could struggle up there. Is there nothing going on before though? i would like to have a drive out with other cars.

    Simon
