| Follow-up to previous newbie post! First I'd like to thank everyone for all the excellent advice in the thread below - I'm really grateful. The idea of buying a recon intrigues me - ie: getting a recon Chevy 350 and then upgrading it later. I received the Real Steel catalogue (thanks whoevever recomended it!) and things are becoming clearer. For the manual gearbox it looks like I need a TREMEC TR3550 - these are available from Roadcraft and Real Steel - so I guess that's just a case of seeing who's cheaper? For the engine, I've seen a thing called a Goodwrench in the Real Steel catalogue (and also a Chevy 350 at Roadcraft here: http://www.roadcraftuk.co.uk/engine_....htm#350_stand) - does anyone know if this is what I should buy? Are these new (and therefore potentially a problem for SVA emmisions) or is that a recon and they'll tell me what year/mileage when I order? If not, is there anywhere I can order a recon engine from directly? At around £1600 it's far cheaper than I expected and the idea of reconing it myself (rather than upgrading later) is becoming less attractive (I assumed they would be £4k or something!). Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give! Paul. |

| RE: Follow-up to previous newbie post! Hear Hear to what Dave said, I went down the Real Steel route in my ignorance at that time, Sorting the clutch was a pain but I got there in the end. I did end up with a very heavy clutch too. I'm thinking of fitting a servo on it. cheers Kev Davies
