DAX Door Latches narrow fit needed?

As used on most Cobra's replicas the door latches are from a MGTF.

Do you know if I need for a DAX cobra the type that got the narrow fit striker plate?
Is necessary to reinforce the body via steel angle plate?
If you have some pictures can you post it.
Thanks in advance.

RE: DAX Door Latches narrow fit needed?

If you have the Dax build manual it shows a reinforcing plate under the wheel arch. I used a 6mm plate around 100mm X 40mm.
I don't have a picture to hand but I'll try to take one later.
Were your catches supplied by Dax?

Kev
It will be fine if you make a picture.
I don’t have the Dax build manual due to the fact that I bought the car as a second hand.
I am in contact with one person of the forum to take over his DAX manual, till than, I am developing things that I don’t like and evaluating for security like in the case of the “Door latches”.
To the point, how can I come thru the wheel arch? is not to far for the striker?
I got a DAX from 1986 is a difference in the body?
Because, from the door sealing panel to the front of the wheel arch is at least 35mm.

Thanks in advance,
Cobra289

RE: DAX Door Latches narrow fit needed?

Now I understand why the stud on the Dax supplied parts was so long to take up the distance between the lip and wheel arch on those earlier bodies.
The latest bodies don't have that gap so I had to use spacers to take up some of the excess stud length.
I hope the shots attached help.

RE: DAX Door Latches narrow fit needed?

Hi Kev,

I just received a e-mail from the guy that will send the Dax manual, hi has send a scan of the door locks fitting.
This help a lot Kev because I see that the vertical lib is with a offset in the new body’s, so should adjust my body.
I think that I will buy a striker with a vertical guide like the picture. (EuropaSpares)
Thanks for your help.
