Question for Dave Dax Builder.

Dave
Do you have any problems with starter motors on the Goodwrench
you build.
I have Goodwrench with 153 tooth flywheel and ally bell housing.
I have bought most add ons from a local guy, but he cant decide
what starter to give me, he thinks a GMS 3 might work but if im
not carefull i could endup with more starters than Real Steel.
Any advice gratefully received.

Steve.

RE: Question for Dave Dax Builder.

Steve

Yes, GMS 3 is the correct starter for 1965-1990 Chevy with a 153 tooth flywheel and ally bellhousing. Mine works perfect, spins the engine like a good un, even when bl**dy hot.

Make sure that you shim it correctly as it is critical to avoid damage and for the correct operation.

It explains how to do it correctly in the Real Steel catalogue, page 61.

RE: Question for Dave Dax Builder.

Steve

You can fit starter without removing box and bellhousing, but unfortuanatly you can't shim it correctly with them in position.
