Fuel Pump Cam

I have fitted a Cloyes true roller timing chain set to my Ford 302. The fuel pump cam is a two piece affair and when bolted to the new cam sprocket it does not rotate due to the lack of a raised boss on the new sprocket face. Can I put a spacer behind the pump cam to enable it to rotate, or do I now need a one piece fuel pump cam?
Also, is the crank oil slinger absolutely necessary?

Regards,

Rowie
