Wheels, Wheels, Wheels - Sumo Mk3

Hi all

I've just started building a Sumo mk3 with an RV8. I want to buy wheels soon but don't want to buy traditional Halibrands. Can I just buy any alloys from one of the many wheel dealers that suit the Sierra 4 bolt fixings or do I have to worry about offset etc.

I would like to fit some good looking 5 spoke 17" alloys. I would appreciate some recommendations from anyone who has these.

Also what tyre size would I need on Sumo Mk3

Thanks in advance for any guidance that you may be able to give.

Cheers

Will (New boy - kit car builder)

Yes you do need to consider the offset for both looks and handling. In fact it is a very important.

You could consider the Revolution RZX; I believe it is available in the right offset.

Image also do a range of suitable wheels, but their prices are ridicules.

Hi Andy

Thanks for that. In fact that's the route I am heading down. Unfortunately the only ones they do with the Sumo offset is the 5 spoke 15" which is not really what I wanted. However the whole lot including tyres is only a little over £700 inc Vat, so they will do until I can afford some others.

Are you from Brighton? (I'm in Shoreham)

Cheers

Will

Take it from someone who all-ready drives a car with low profile tyres on it

if you don't have enough tyre wall you'll VERY easly ding the alloys on anything. a lorry dropping a peice of wood cost me a new alloy. !!!

Will,

I live in Hove most of the time. However I spend a lot of my weekends in Derbyshire, which is where I keep my car at the moment.

If you are wanting to rope someone into helping you with your build then give us a shout.

Cheers,
Andy
