Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Hi all, has anyone an idea how I can convert/swap the sierra indicator, lights and wiper stalks (plastic) for something in stainless/chrome?
I think that I can cut down the existing stalks to a short stub, then affix stainless tube ok, but finding a way to make a push button on the end of the stalk is vexing me.
Does anyone know of a car that has the right stalks already for me to graft onto the sierra ones?
Cheers, Neil.

RE: Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Hi Neil
Only solution that I can think of is to use hollow stalks with either a switch at the outside end and the wires running through the stalk. or if you have a fairly firm piece of nylon running down the middle opperating a switch on the column .

RE: Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Two Methods to doing this.

1. Buy some chrome coloured Vynel Dye and dye the stork it can look really effective.

2. harder. Rebuilt your orignal stork. for the switches a Momentary switch will do. and a machine shop will build the Button cap. and while they are there they could build most of the stork. even etching in the decals.

It's not particually expensive. I used to get quite a few Miniture alu parts made for my RC Cars. so a stork for a car should be no biggie for them.

RE: Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Hi all, just realised there was something missing in my original post, so here it is; 'n'
I hate spelling mistakes (sad git).
Thanks for the tips so far, I think that the best option seems to be to remake the whole arm from stainless, building a new design switch in the end.
Cheers,

RE: Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Hi Neil,
I'm looking to do a similar thing, I can't stand the plastic jobbies.
I have seen in JEGS catalogue (USA) I think, some chrome stalks, I cant remember if they have switches on or not though.
but if you are going to make a few then let me know I would be interested in buying some from you.....

Ben

ps please excuse any spelling mistakes

RE: Stailess indicator stalks etc.

Hi

This sounds good
Put me down for some
What we need is for someone to champion this and if we have a few of us interested it will probably knock down cost of machining etc

Regards
