Rover V8 engine identity

I have a nice 'turnkey' RV8 3.5 ready for my Cobra build.

How can I get proof of engine age for the SVA emissions test. My engine block number is 11A01246, the visible numbers are 9:35 1CR. ?

Steve,

On the homepage there is a kink to engine numbers page. There are a few rover numbers there but not yours. What it does say is that the numbers are taken from rimmer brothers http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ , maybe if you give them a ring and tell them your info they might send something through for you.

Steve,

11A's are SD1 Auto 9.35:1 compression ratio 1976 - 1987. Obviously yours is a low number, therefore an early one.

If you phone the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon tech helpline (01926 645085) the should be able to give you an exact certified date.

...and for £15.00 will provide you with a letter of authentication that you will be able to use for SVA purposes, proving the age of your engine.

RE: Rover V8 engine identity

Steve,

I went for the "Reputable Source" as our very own CRC. Just printed the list from our site and tester was happy with that. Bear in mind they will have tested many kit's that use the Rover so are probably more aware of engine numbers/dates that we give them credit for. It's worth a quick phone call to the centre to see what they would be happy with.

Cheers

Jim

Wasn't good enough for the guys at Birmingham either, but they were happy using the age on the V5 which had the Rover engine number on it? Never did understand that. Talk to your test station

Guys

The list on the site WILL be good enough for ANY SVA testing center. Ask them to either re-read the manual or call head office.

I will dig out the exact wording of the manual when I have a minute.

RE: Rover V8 engine identity

So the club list and/or the original V5 for the car the engine came from will get it without the need to spend 15 quid on a heritage certicate?? Trigger.
