RE: Starter Motor

Steve,

Here is a pic of the starter motor I have. You will see that it is the larger sort too. You can also see from this pic where I have my engine mount fixed. Even with all this (lack of) room, I'm still able to remove the starter. I found it easier to lift it upwards than to let it drop down as the chassis gets in the way.

Regards,
Tony B

RE: Starter Motor

Hi Tony,
Looking at your picture I think my problem is the position of the engine mount in the chassis. My mount is as far back as it will go in the chassis, and the single bolt from the rubber mount is in the middle of the three (usable) forward holes.
From your picture your rubber mount is in the rearmost of the three holes - does this mean that your engine mount is to the front of the slots in the chassis?
Looks like I'm going to have to move the engine mount for any type of solution.
I'm not going to get a chance to try it until Saturday - providing it's not too cold. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Steve

RE: Starter Motor

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Simple use of the engine hoist, and moving the rubber mount one hole back allowed me to move it forwards in the chassis. This gvies JUST enough room to get the starter in place.
One step nearer to getting the engine started - will I make it before the new year? Probably not.....
"Oh bother!", said Pooh.

Steve Westcott
