RE: chrome spinners

Hi,

Sumo 2 I believe is Ford Granada mk2 based. and Mk3 is Ford Sierra based. Also the body shapes are different. I have built both Mk2 and Mk3. They're all good latter is better due to Ford Sierra availability.

Maia

Don't apologise, your English is 500% better than my Portuguese and your spelling is far better than most members on this Forum (including me ).

RE: chrome spinners

Hi Maia

I have used vinyl stripes for my Sumo until I am sure I want them painted on. I have used two stripes 295mm wide with a 15mm gap. I know it is not accurate but it gives you time to see if you want them permanently.

The diagram attached by "Bowtie" looks very good and would be a good guide if you decide to get them painted.

With regard to the spinners, it depends on the wheels you are currently using and the diameter of the hub centre in the wheels. If they are a different diameter to the spinners, then they will either need machining down or a new sleeve machined and pressed over the spinners to make the correct diameter.

I don't know about the Mk2 chassis but the Mk3 has been revised to incorporate diagonal tubes approx. 30mm diameter running under the dash from the forward part of the transmission tunnel back towards the windscreen mounting area of the outer chassis.

There is also a total of four tubes around the differential area to brace the chassis and later chassis's (?) have another brace tube diagonally beneath the propellor shaft.

I hope this helps.

RE: chrome spinners

Above photo's show the MkIII Sumo Chassis that I collected Feb 2001. The modficiations all use cylindrical tubing except for the brace to the underside of the transmission tunnel (Which is square).

From the front to rear

2 diagonal supports just infront of the steering rack position
1 diagonal square tubing brace welded to the underside of the tunnel
2 diagonal supports in the Foot wells
4 Braces around the rear axle

7 of the braces are visible in the underside photo above.
The 2 foot well braces can be seen in the top side photo.
