Hi Stuart, and welcome to the forum.
You could give "Real Steel" a call they are Holley agents/suppliers they may be able to help.
I would have thought you'd do better to get the motor up and running again and then have the carb sorted on a rolling road. That way you know the jettings are correct for your state of build. If you rebuild the carb first you have to rejet etc, again.

Stuart the only people up your way I could recomend in the tunning RV8 syndrome, is DJ Ellis Nuneaton: http://www.djev8.com he seems to be one of the main man for Rover tunning but a bit positive in his attitude!! Eric.

'but a bit positive in his attitude'

Even when you are spending money with him!!! (even more so when you're not). IMHO he is also top end price wise.

I would go Real Steel if you just want it checked over (or a one of the local Cobra chaps should be able to give it a quick check - I'd do it, but not too local to you). Don't bother getting it jetted untill you're on a rolling road as already mentioned, your engine will almost certainly run with whatever it's got in it now - just not optimally.

Thanks.
I'll fit it as suggested and hope it runs. Then look into it when getting it tuned.

RE: Holley 390 CFM Carb

Russ I know he is top end price wise together with his attitude, and so are a lot of others including Reel Steel, with gold card!!! The guy was asking about somewhere closer to him. Real steel are an arrogant bunch of Aussie / Irish basted's unless the mood suits. I have spent thousands with them over the years, they are 10 mile down the road from me (Motor Way!!)

You only use Real Steel when needs must!! Standared jeting for starters is on a 390 for RV8 3:9 is 51 primary 60 secondary with 7:5 power valve as you know. Bolt the thing on and off you go!!Eric.

RE: Holley 390 CFM Carb

yes, I realise he was looking for somewhere close but there is always the post!

As for Real Steel, I've never really had a problem with them or their parts prices (compared to other UK suppliers), and I don't have a problem with Dave Ellis either really (except with what he wants to charge for engine builds). I guess they must get a bit peeded off with customers sometimes? - just have to catch them in a good mood!

Having said that, I only use UK suppliers where I can't get parts I want direct from the states and, as you know, I do all my own engine machining and building.
