cam identification, yes, another one.

I have aquired a cam from a rover v8. It measures the same lift as standard but the duration is hugh. Can you tell me what the following marks stamped on the end bearing meen. I've e-mailed Piper from a hunch but with no reply.
A symbol of a cam with the letter p inside it. (this I'm assumming to be Piper)
The marks GP A
And I think there's an RS scratched in it too. No figures that I can find.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

RE: cam identification, yes, another one.

A little before my time but what I think you have is a Rover SD1 Group 'A' saloon camshaft. Lift is the same as standard because that was one of the (few) things that was not allowed to be changed from the std road spec car by the regulations.

Kent cams were the manufacturer.

Spec is 44/76/76/44, 300 deg period .390 inch lift at valve. described by them as a 'rally' camshaft. That quite a long period for a road cam though idle should not be as bad as it might be because of the small lift figure.

Thanks Russ. I'll give it a go. Do you have any experience with this cam ?
