Lumpy idle

Started my cob the usual way ie two pumps of gas then pedel half down for start up.No choke so i normaly keep it at 1000 rpm until warm and it ticks over in that nice lazy V8 way, but today it was very lumpy and just stalled even after longer than usual wait or it would lumber and sruggle at 300rpm.

I wound the idle screw in for the cable end stop to keep it going while i had a poke around @ about 750rpm then without touching anything the revs shot up to 2000rpm for a few seconds then droped back down for a bit and then did the same again .

Ignition or fuel?

RE: Lumpy idle

Sounds like a fuel delivery, like a sudden spill of fuel, I could be wrong but carb would need checking over, float chamber levels? needle/seat sealing?? power valve???

RE: Lumpy idle

Carb sticking needle sound a possible favourite. Not that uncommon on Holley and standing for a period of time.
