RE: Ground clearance

Hi Dave,
I don't know what engine / box combination you have have but the lowest point on a Chevy tends to be the bellhousing flange or the sump pan.
I guess you want to have at least 4" of clearance if possible, but don't go too high because you won't be able to shut the bonnet, especially if your using a high manifold / carb set up, like an Edelbrock Performer RPM or similar.

RE: Ground clearance

Dave,

My 302 only sticks below the chassis about half an inch, so I have plenty of ground clearance. However my air filter JUST clears the bonnet scoop. If I had to do it again, I'd drop the engine another 3/4ths of an inch or so.

RE: Ground clearance

Dave,

RAM/Rover

Front ride height puts chassis rails @ 6" ground clearance.
Sump is 5" clearance to ground.
Lowest point is gearbox front x-member (not the mounting one) @ 4" ground clearance - this one does very ocasionally catch but it is stepped downward from the std straight one to clear the gearbox (coz I lowered engine from std position by 1".

Hope this helps

Russ
