Chrome dash switches from RS

Has anyone purchased any dash switches from RS (push button chrome type) ? They seem to have quite a selection and I would believe they look SVA complaint too (slightly domed). They look better than the rocker switches to me...

RE: Chrome dash switches from RS

I got a stainless one (from their vandal resistant range!) from them for my starter button - passed SVA with it so no problems there.

Hmm, I can see the vandal ones, but no mention of the 'temporary' switch ones (for ignition etc). I havent looked at the SVA manual regarding switches yet, but I seem to remember someone saying that they had to have some kind of graphic on them or text etc saying what they did ? The stainless illuminated ones look the biz, but I dont know if I could use these (they dont even protrude).

Hi Marcus, I got mine from RS. I fitted one momentary vandal proof for the starter and the normal on/off switch for the ignition. There not the same sizes but both s/steel.Both passed the SVA OK with no decals on them, infact the wiper and indicator arms were also s/steel with no descripion on them. I think you only need decals on warning lights.

Thanks Philip, I still cant see any 'momentary' ones though. Bugger it. One of them says 'alternate action' (for £13), I wonder if that could be it.

By RS do you mean Real Steel or is it another supplier; I`m interested to know cause I`m looking at switches an d differing layouts at the moment.

RS components. In the olden days they used to be called radio spares.

But that was when people used to have radios repaired!

http://rswww.com (there's no "www")

You can browse the catalogue and see prices, but you have to register to access technical info, eg data sheets.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from them. They used to be really expensive compared to Maplin, but now prices are much the same and they tend to have things in stock!

Simon.
