Wiper motor wiring AK.

Can anyone with an AK using Rover switchgear help with a problem?

I`ve got wiper motor working ok. got 2 speeds and self park.
When I try the intermitant position the relay makes a "strange" buzzing and promptly blows the 20amp fuse.Relay is brand new Ford item.
Thought I`d cracked this but it`s beginning to p**s me off a tad and I`m fast running out of 20amp fuses.*#

Any thoughts or help with wiring etc. much appreciated.

Tony.

Stuart.

Spoke to Ken last wk. and managed to get to current stage. Before this I couldn`t get the damm thing to work anywhere near right.
Looks like another call tommorow.Although the wiring on the back of my switch seemed a bit different to what Ken expected.

Apart from this the wiring has been fine and with my ability with electrics thats saying something!!

Begining to think that the person at Lucas who dreamed up the wiring of these things must have been
a:- a prat.
b:- a woman who hates men.
c:- indeed the prince of darkness as mentioned in previous posting.
d:- a combination of the above.

Been there, got the T shirt. Like me, you are using the switchgear off the MkII.

Ken gave me the following which solved it.

1 Green/Blue
2 Brown / Green
3 Brown / Green
4 White / Green
5 Red / Green
6 Yellow / Green
7 Brown / L Green
8 Red / Green

This means that you have to swap over the originals wiring on 4 and 6 and on 5 and 7.

Solved it on mine.

James

If all else fails, do like I did, cut the wire and get rid of the intermitant, how often do you need it?

James.

Thanks for that , will give it a try.Managed to get to the stage where I`m not blowing fuses anymore and the relay seems to click into action but no wipe, sounds like I`m one connection away.
If all else fails I will do as Mike sugests and dispense with the intermitant wipe altogether, I`m assuming it`s not a requirement for sva.

Your time would have been better spent fitting wipers on the inside of the screen, I wish I could understand why the screen gets wetter on the inside that the outside??????????{-} &V {-}
