RV8 Manifolds in a DAX - repost

Hi all,
I am reposting this in this section cause everybody is ignoring me.&V

Surely somebody must know or be able to help me with this bit of my build.

Im trying to sort out some manifolds and what not for my RV8 in a Dax.
Can anybody help me out a little with the sizes and such as I havent got much of a clue what I need for the side pipe setup.

If I get 4-2-1 amnifolds do these then attach directly to the 4into1 collector which exits through the bodywork or is it a bit more complicated than that?

cheers

Ben

A Rover will need about 1.5" primaries.
You don't say if you are making your own manifolds or are trying to buy some "Off the shelf" ones that you hope will fit and who's sidepipes you intend to use.

RE: RV8 Manifolds in a DAX - repost

Hi Guys,

Im at odds as to wether to make (well attempt would probably be the right word) my own or buy some off the shelf..

The reason I am trying to do it as cheap as poss is that I intend to swap the RV8 after I have the car on the road, so I will obviously need to replace the manifolds.

I am going to purchase the side pipes from dax but that will be way off in the future (

I am talking to Paul blackman at the moment about getting some from him, but I obviusly need the sizes and clearance and how they connect up etc. through or before the bodywork...

hope you guys can help or if anybody has some going spare, or bits and bats that I could make my own from (Dave??)

cheers

ben

If you are going to swap the rover later on why can't you do that now and save hassle in the long run?
What rover is it, if it's a 3.9 or less 1.5" primaries about 21" long should be OK, if it's a 4.6 you will need 1.75"primaries, but I wouldn't worry too much about exact sizes.
Why are you going to swap the Rover? Yank V8's are best used on ocean liners as anchors }(

"best used on ocean liners" hehehehehhe

Problem with swapping now is my limited funds, I am building within a budget but after I have it running and on the road then the cash I will have can go into swapping the bits and pieces later, I just cant afford the initial outlay for a yank yet

You say the primarys should be 21" long is that straight down or across? I can picture how they work as I dont yet have my body to match them to, could you perhaps bodge me a diagram showing the layout and connection to the side pipes so I have it clearin my head?

thanx for the help guys, it just proves that if you shout louder people do actually hear you

{-}

Ben,

I've got some new m/s tubular manifolds you could have for a reasonable price. They're from real steel and I bought ages ago but never fitted them. Drop me an email if you're interested. richard.gilday@ntlworld.com

I was thinking about maybe going this route but it`s not so simple
It`s not just a simple case of an engine swap it involves a lot more
You will need , besides engine, gearbox and other ancilliaries, maybe new springs and shocks (for the extra weight) new engine and gearbox mounts, propshaft, different diff ratio, maybe different radiator, wiring loom mods etc

After much deliberation I have decided to go for Rover and stick with it, hoping I don`t regret it in the longrun. The main reason being for fuel economy (is that possible with a cobra???? x( )as it will be only car (company van for work). I am also planning on building on a budget.

Just a thought

Paul
